A Reading Sanctum for Introverts

It’s the little things that matter

“Ladies and Gentlemen please welcome, The Rizzler!”

To 90% of the world that sentence is most likely the first time one of its kind has been uttered. And when they saw that this “Rizzler” was in fact a tiny 8 year old boy who went viral for eating Costco food and making his rizz face, most would just call it silly or dumb. But to the over ten thousand people packed into the Prudential Center, it was like a celebrity had walked into the building. Everyone was on their feet cheering and screaming for the famous Costco Guys as Big Boom AJ made his way down to the ring for his first match in 20 years. No one knew what to expect from him and honestly we didn’t care one bit what was going to happen. That’s the beauty of pro wrestling though, it’s all about suspension of belief. If you seriously think about the situation it’s obviously silly, but it’s way more entertaining to act as if 11 year old Big Justice’s spear is the most devastating move in the entire industry and treat him like he’s Hulk Hogan.

I think that’s what draws me into wrestling still even after all of these years. You have to just roll with what happens sometimes because you never know, you can stumble into your next step in life. I’m sure AJ never thought he’d get back into the ring especially due to TikTok fame but he just rolled with it and let life play out for him. It’s important to just have fun and try new things out even if you don’t sense they will go far. And when I see these bigger than life personas wrestle in spandex tights, it motivates me to try and apply these same ideas to my personal experience. My next job or opportunity may not be what I have exactly in mind but if it helps elevate me to that opportunity in mind, then it’s absolutely worth it. Because sometimes, whether it’s a quiet thanksgiving dinner or even a double chunk chocolate cookie from Costco, it’s the little things in life that matter the most.
